Marathon is a PvPvE extraction shooter set in a science fiction universe in the year 2850. players assume the role of “Runners” tasked with scavenging resources in a opposed surroundings.
Gameplay revolves around crews of up to three players exploring various zones and points of interest on planets. The game features both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) combat, including encounters with creatures and other players. A core mechanic involves the risk of losing gear upon death, but retaining accumulated loot and progression upon prosperous runs.
