Police Arrest and Investigate Man Who Assaulted Car Owner and Fled After Being Caught Stealing
A man in his 20s who was caught stealing valuables from a car, assaulted the owner, and fled was apprehended by the police.
Jeonju Deokjin Police Station announced on the 24th that they had arrested Mr. A, a man in his 20s, on charges of attempted robbery by evading arrest and were investigating other crimes.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of attempting to steal valuables from a parked car that was open near Jinbuk-dong, Jeonju-si at around 11:00 PM on the 14th.
It is reported that Mr. A attempted to assault Mr. B, the owner of the car, when he was discovered during the crime, but ran away after being counterattacked.
After receiving a report from the car owner, the police began tracking him down and arrested him on the 21st in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, using the credit card usage history stolen from the car as a clue.
Person A was confirmed to have multiple similar criminal records. A police official said, “We are continuing the investigation after arresting Person A due to concerns about fleeing and destroying evidence.”
The police are continuing to investigate additional crimes due to the suspect’s history of similar offenses.
