Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy showers in the state. Yellow alert was declared in Idukki district on Saturday and Wayanad district on Sunday. These districts receive 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Meanwhile, winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in the state from April 15 to 18, the Met office said.

Caution Suggestions:

Strong winds can cause accidents such as falling trees and broken twigs. Do not stand under trees for any reason during wind and rain. Do not park vehicles in trees.

Dangerous twigs of trees in the backyard should be cut down. Inform the concerned local bodies if any dangerous trees are noticed in public places.

∙ Properly reinforce or disassemble unsecured billboards, electric posts, and flagpoles in the absence of wind or rain as they may fall from the trunk. Do not stand or park vehicles under or near it during rain and wind.

കാ Tools and other objects that may fall in the wind, such as a ladder leaning against a wall or other object, should be tied with rope.

ജന Home windows and doors should be closed as soon as the wind begins to blow. Do not stand near windows and doors. Avoid standing on the terrace of the house.

Those living in dilapidated, sheet-lined or unsealed houses should contact the authorities (number 1077) in advance and move to safer buildings as and when required in the event of a warning.

Local Self Government Institutions, Revenue Officers and People’s Representatives should take the initiative to transfer such persons identified under the Local Government Level Disaster Mitigation Scheme to the required relief camps as per the Kovid Protocol.

വൈദ്യുതി Power lines and posts are more likely to break when strong winds and rain occur. In case of any such incident, immediately inform KSEB Control Room 1912 or District Disaster Management Authority Control Room on 1077. Troubleshooting activities should be avoided during the windy phase and only after the wind and rain have stopped. The public should patiently cooperate with KSEB employees. Do not do such repair work in public.

വർ Those who go to work early in the morning, such as newspaper and milk distributors, should be especially careful. Efforts should be made to ensure that the power line does not break due to flooding of roads. If you suspect any danger, you should inform the control room and proceed only after making sure that there is no danger.

Make sure that the power lines passing through the fields are safe before entering the field.

Construction workers should stop work and move to a safe place when strong winds and heavy rains occur.
