The JoongAng Ilbo reported on the 24th that Choi Jin-seok, chairman of the People’s Party’s permanent election countermeasures committee, had a closed meeting with Hong Jun-pyo of People’s Strength.

He met with Ahn Cheol-soo, the predecessor of the People’s Party presidential candidate, while the conflict with Yoon Seok-yeol, the People’s Power presidential candidate, has recently escalated.

According to the media, Chairman Choi visited Representative Hong’s office at the National Assembly Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on the afternoon of the same day and met with Representative Hong for about 30 minutes. Chairman Choi was personally recruited by Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, as he went to Hampyeong, South Jeolla Province on the 18th.

A political interpretation followed the meeting between Chairman Choi and Rep. Hong. This is because the two did not have any public exchanges, and Congressman Hong recently had a conflict with People’s Power candidate Yoon Seok-yeol.

Chairman Choi, however, said in a phone call with the media, “I just gave my book as a gift while greeting the new year.”

Earlier, it was reported that Rep. Hong requested strategic nominations of former Auditor General Choi Jae-hyung during a dinner meeting with Candidate Yoon on the 19th.

Kwon Young-se, head of the People’s Power Election Response Headquarters, seemed to be targeting Rep. Hong a day after the dinner meeting, saying, “If you are a party leader, you have to act appropriately as a leader in the presidential election phase and in desperate times. We must keep in mind that our party membership will not be recognized.”

Rep. Hong expressed his displeasure openly at this. Rep. Hong posted on Facebook on the 21st, “It should be said that the essence of the problem was in the displeasure of the request for supplementation of state management capability and the demand for strict enforcement of corruption in the wife-in-law. It is truly detestable to be driven as a politician.”

On the 23rd, Rep. Hong said to the online platform ‘Youth’s Dream’ that he created, “I can’t go out on my own feet, and as Kwon Young-se (former head of the office) said, it would be more comfortable if the Yoon Hak officials would move and let them leave the party.” .

On the other hand, the relationship between Candidate Ahn and Rep. Hong is not bad. Candidate Ahn also sent a love call to Rep. Hong by posting in his dream of youth in December of last year, “Why do young people like and go crazy about Rep. Hong Jun-pyo?”

Rep. Hong posted an ambiguous reply on the bulletin board of ‘Youth’s Dream’, saying, “The party has changed a lot” when a supporter said, “I will shoot Ahn Cheol-soo after seeing what Candidate Yoon is doing to Congressman Hong.”
