Federal authorities have detained the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the man accused of attacking a pro-Israel rally in Boulder, Colo. Homeland security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the detention of Soliman’s family, including his wife and five children, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Soliman, an Egyptian national, is accused of throwing Molotov cocktails into a crowd at an event organized by Run for their Lives, a group advocating for the release of Israeli captives in Gaza. The attack injured 12 people,with three remaining hospitalized. He faces federal hate crime charges.
Officials are investigating whether Soliman’s family had any prior knowledge or provided support for the planned attack. The suspect reportedly yelled “Free Palestine” during the incident and admitted he wanted the victims to die, showing no remorse.
The White House has emphasized that Soliman was in the U.S. on an expired tourist visa, linking the case to broader immigration enforcement efforts. Officials indicated the family could face deportation.
“This terrorist will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this heinous attack, if they had knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it.”
