The Commission of Inquiry appointed by the party to probe the clash between the two factions at the CPM Walayar local conference under the Palakkad ∙ Puthussery Area Committee has started taking evidence. Amravati, a former panchayat member and tribal union leader, was injured in a scuffle during the meeting. Statements were recorded from about 10 people, including Praseetha. The whole thing in the conference hall was questioned. There are indications that she testified before the Amravati Commission that she was insulted and attacked in a manner that was insulting to women.

Information was sought from the leaders of the Women’s Association and the Agricultural Workers’ Union. It is learned that a group of non-partisans came and tried to sabotage and attack the meeting. State Committee Member KV Ramakrishnan and district committee member EN Suresh Babu led the proceedings.

In the coming days, the delegates and the area and local committee leaders who were present in the conference hall will give their statements. A section of people protested and alleged that the local committee had divided the land without following the criteria for seizure and the ensuing controversy escalated. The official party later convened a meeting at another venue, but this too drew criticism. The party commission is also investigating the commotion at the Elappully local West local assembly.
