Covid 19 | Kovid to two people who came to Bengaluru from South Africa; Sample Detailed Test – News18 Malayalam

BENGALURU: Kovid has confirmed to two South African nationals who arrived in Bengaluru amid fears of a new variant of the Kovid, the Omicron. Their samples were sent for detailed examination. Authorities said both were quarantined.

Kovid was tested positive by South African nationals who landed at Kempegowda International Airport. Between November 1 and 26, 94 people arrived in India from South Africa.

Bengaluru Rural Deputy Commissioner K Srinivas said there was no need for people to worry. Health officials said the test could take up to 48 hours.

Omicron | Special monitoring for those coming from African countries; PM urges caution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for caution in the wake of the discovery of a new genetically modified virus in Africa. The high-level meeting evaluated the precautions to be taken and guidelines to be adopted against the virus variant Omicron. Special monitoring will be carried out for those coming from African countries. The Union Ministry of Health has directed the States and Union Territories in this regard.

At the same time, some states have demanded a travel ban on people from these countries. The Prime Minister asked the officials to check whether the travel restrictions should be tightened further.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the government to reconsider the resumption of international flights. Earlier, the Ministry of Civil Aviation had said that international flights from India and back would be resumed on December 15 with conditions.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the service will be limited to 14 countries, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, Brazil, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Zimbabwe and New Zealand.

The Prime Minister told the gathering that people should be more vigilant and take precautionary measures such as social distance and masks. The meeting evaluated the progress of vaccination in the country and discussed the lack of vigilance of some states in vaccination.

The government is working to complete the first dose of the vaccine by the end of December. The Prime Minister also demanded that those who received the first dose should get the second dose on time. Currently, 121.6 lakh doses of the vaccine have been given. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan were also present at the meeting.
