Discover the Exciting New Response Gestures in iOS 17’s Video Calls!

iOS 17’s latest features, such as the addition of “stickers” and “link posters,” are creating quite a buzz. However, another exciting feature that has captured users’ attention is the ability to send reactions during video calls using hand gestures, specifically on apps like “FaceTime.” This new addition allows users to effortlessly enhance their conversations with fun and vibrant 3D effects.

To access this response gesture function for video calls, users need to have an iPhone 12 or a later model running on iOS 17. The feature is available when using the front camera during a call. By simply placing a predetermined hand signal on the call screen, users can experience a range of captivating effects.

Upon updating to iOS 17, the response gesture feature is enabled by default. However, if it fails to function correctly during a video call, users are advised to check their Control Center settings. As long as video call effects are turned on, users are ready to go and enjoy this exciting new feature.

Currently, there are eight types of gestures that users can explore, each triggering a unique effect on the call screen:

1. Peace Sign: By making a peace sign with one hand while facing the screen, colorful balloons will whimsically float from the bottom, enhancing the visual experience.

2. Double Peace Sign: Making a double peace sign gesture results in a vibrant rain of confetti cascading across the screen, creating an exuberant celebration-like atmosphere.

3. Thumbs Up: When users give a thumbs up gesture, a speech bubble with the word “Like” pops up, conveying a positive reaction.

4. Two Thumbs Up: Showcasing two thumbs up triggers an impressive display of fireworks, accompanied by a slight darkening of the screen, adding a touch of elegance to the effect.

5. Thumbs Down: Conversely, pointing the thumb downwards prompts a speech bubble to display a symbol similar to the thumbs up, but indicating a negative reaction.

6. Two Thumbs Down: Similar to the two thumbs up gesture, two thumbs down causes the previously cheerful screen to turn gloomy with suspicious-looking clouds and a rain effect.

7. Rock and Roll: Adopting the rock and roll pose, where the index finger and little finger are extended while the back of the hand faces outward, activates a dazzling laser beam effect, reminiscent of a live performance.

8. Heart: Forming a heart shape with the hand results in a bright red, three-dimensional heart appearing on the screen, symbolizing love and affection.

Excitingly, these eight reaction gestures are not limited to FaceTime but are also available for video calls on popular platforms like LINE and Instagram. By incorporating these small gestures into conversations, users can embark on a novel and delightful video call experience. So, whether it’s a joyous occasion or simply to spice up the conversation, give these gestures a try.

In addition to the gesture feature, iOS 17 also boasts other notable functions, including the highly versatile “sticker” feature. Furthermore, iOS 17 introduces updated widgets, AirDrop enhancements, and even a unique “Contact Poster” function, enabling users to exchange contacts seamlessly.

These new features have generated substantial excitement among users, with iOS 17 being hailed as a must-try update. So, why not join the multitude of users enjoying the extraordinary features offered by iOS 17 and elevate your mobile experience to new heights?
