[헤럴드경제=김지윤 기자] Eastar Jet announced on the 10th that it recorded an operating loss of 57.7 billion won last year, increasing the deficit by 18% compared to 2022.

According to the Eastar Jet audit report, last year’s sales totaled 146.7 billion won, an increase of 3,600 times the previous year’s sales. Net loss for the period was 53.7 billion won, an 8% increase compared to the previous year.

Eastar Jet completely suspended operations in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and management difficulties, but sequentially resumed domestic flights in March of last year and international flights in September of last year.

The company explains that the increase in last year’s deficit was due to initial fixed cost expenditures.

Eastar Jet has focused on expanding its fleet, including introducing seven new planes last year.

According to the audit report, Eastar Jet’s aircraft operating lease fee last year was at least 42.6 billion won.

Costs for recruiting and training new employees have also increased significantly. Last year, Eastar Jet’s salary costs increased by 73% from the previous year to 9.869 billion won. Education and training costs were approximately 60 million won, an increase of more than six times compared to the previous year.

Eastar Jet’s goal is to achieve profit by introducing more than 5 additional aircraft and operating more than 12 routes this year. An Eastar Jet official said, “We expect to achieve our first surplus in the first quarter of this year.”
