Ecuador beat Brazil; Argentina beat Chile

Quito: Ecuador beat Brazil in Latin American qualifier for the World Cup. Both teams split, scoring one goal each. Argentina beat Chile by two goals to one in the second match.

Casimiro put Brazil ahead in the sixth minute of the first half. Meanwhile, Ecuador’s goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez and Brazil defender Emerson Royal were sent off for a red card, but Felix Torres equalized in the 75th minute. Brazil remain top of the region with 36 points from 16 games. The next opponent is Paraguay on Wednesday.

Argentina beat Chile, led by Angel Di Maria, who replaced Messi. Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martina scored the goals for Argentina. Ben Dia scored for Chile. Argentina are currently second with 34 points from 14 matches. The next opponent is Colombia on Wednesday. In Latin America, the remaining four teams are Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela.
