For ​nearly‌ three​ weeks, a moose nicknamed Emil has been attracting attention in Lower Austria, the province ​surrounding Vienna. ‌The animal’s presence is ‍unusual, as moose ‌are not native to Austria.

As ⁤of Monday, September 2, ​2024, a Facebook fan page dedicated to Emil had amassed 10,000⁢ members,⁣ demonstrating ⁣the public’s fascination with the unexpected visitor.

Railway Disruption in‌ St. Pölten

Emil’s⁢ wanderings ​led him to the suburb of St.Pölten,the capital⁤ of Lower Austria,late last week. On‍ Saturday, August 31, 2024, he ventured onto ‌the tracks at the city’s main railway station, causing a several-hour closure of the Vienna-Salzburg main line, a critical transportation route.

Authorities believe Emil ⁤migrated from Poland,⁣ traveling through the Czech Republic, Austria’s northern neighbor, to reach Austria. the exact route and timing of his journey remain⁤ unclear.
