Ferrari announces the resignation of F1 team representative Mattia Binotto[F1-Gate.com]

Ferrari has announced that F1 team principal Mattia Binotto has resigned and will leave the team at the end of the year.

After weeks of speculation about Mattia Binotto’s future, Ferrari announced in a statement on Tuesday that it had accepted Mattia Binotto’s decision to resign.

Scuderia Ferrari said Mattia Binotto will remain with the team until December 31, and said it hoped his successor would be confirmed in the new year.

Mattia Binotto says he regrets leaving Ferrari but feels it is the best thing for the Maranello team.

“Unfortunately, we have decided to end our collaboration with Ferrari.”

“I leave the company I have loved for 28 years with the calm that comes from the belief that I have done everything in my power to achieve the goals that have been set.”

“I leave a united and growing team. I am confident that we are a strong team and ready to achieve our highest goals. I think it is as right to take this step now as it has been. “

“I want to thank all the people at Gestone Sportiva for sharing this journey with me.”

Matti Binotto’s departure comes at the end of a roller coaster 2022 season for Ferrari.

But Ferrari started the season as Red Bull’s closest challenger, but reliability issues and strategic missteps have raised questions about whether Ferrari needs a management shake-up.

Rumors about Mattia Binotto’s future surfaced ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi, with Alfa Romeo F1 team principal Fred Vasseur named as a possible replacement, but the speculation was quickly quashed by Ferrari on the rice field.

However, Mattia Binotto is understood to have felt he did not have the full support of Ferrari chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vina after finishing second in the drivers’ and constructors’ championships, and tendered his resignation.

Benedetto Vina thanked Mattia Binotto for his decades long efforts at Ferrari.

“I would like to thank Mattia for his tremendous contribution over the past 28 years at Ferrari, especially for bringing the team back to a competitive position over the past year,” said Vina.

“As a result, we are in a strong position to renew the challenge of winning the ultimate prize in motorsport, especially for our amazing fans around the world. I wish you the best of luck
