Former national fencing team member, Nam Hyun-hee (42), voluntarily handed over a Bentley car, along with various jewelry, to the police. The car, which she received as a surprise gift from her ex-husband Jeon Cheong-jo (27), was willingly presented to the authorities. Nam’s legal representative confirmed the submission and stated that all the jewelry, including bags, necklaces, rings, and watches, received from Jeon were also confiscated. Ownership waivers for both the vehicle and the jewelry were submitted to the police.
Nam expressed her willingness to cooperate fully with the investigating agency and apologized for any inconvenience caused. She vowed to provide her mobile phone as well, offering it as a voluntary submission whenever requested by the police.
Jeon Cheong-jo Arrested for Investment Fraud
Jeon Cheong-jo, who is currently under arrest, faces charges of embezzling over 1.9 billion won from 15 individuals he met while conducting lectures on investment. Following an interview with monthly magazine Women’s Chosun, where Nam announced her plans to marry Jeon, doubts arose regarding his gender, criminal history, and claims of being a third-generation chaebol. Subsequently, multiple complaints and charges were filed against Jeon, alleging his involvement in fraudulent activities.
Nam Hyun-hee Denies Involvement in Fraud
While suspicions have emerged regarding Nam’s potential collaboration with Jeon, she vehemently denies any wrongdoing. Nam maintains her innocence, claiming no association with Jeon’s fraudulent actions. On the 2nd, she expressed her dismay and apologized for causing a disturbance, stating that she was used more extensively than anyone else by Jeon and became the final target of his schemes.

Mr Jeon was arrested the day before on a charge of stealing over 1.9 billion won in investment money from 15 people he met while giving lectures (fraud under the Serious Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes Act).
In an interview with the monthly magazine Women’s Chosun last month, Nam announced that she was about to marry Jeon. However, soon after the interview was made public, doubts spread about Jeon’s gender, his criminal record, and the impersonation of the third generation chaebol.
Since then, a series of complaints and charges have been filed alleging that Mr. Jeon received and embezzled tens of millions of won money to hundreds of millions of won money in the name of investment funds until recently.
Suspicion has also arisen that Mr Nam could have conspired or assisted Mr. Jeon, but Mr Nam maintains that he had nothing to do with the fraud.
