Korean media reported that on March 21, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced former idol Somyi (now a streamer) to 1 year and 6 months in prison in the first trial for slandering the management company’s CEO. She was arrested immediately after the verdict.

Previously, in January 2023, Somyi filed a complaint to the court, accusing the management company’s CEO of sexually assaulting her. Initially, the case was not prosecuted due to lack of evidence. However, soon after, the female streamer immediately filed an appeal. From here, the prosecution began analyzing the evidence, including relevant CCTV footage.

Data from CCTV shows that the former DIA member calmly left the room with the CEO at the time of the alleged assault. In addition, CCTV also shows Somyi entering the office and hugging the CEO. This contradicts her allegations of sexual assault.

According to the prosecution, Somyi fabricated the charges with the purpose of asking the CEO to break up with his girlfriend, but this person did not agree.

However, the former idol denied making up lies, the lawyer said that she was not alert due to the influence of alcohol, making her unable to make the right decision.

According to the image cut from the CCTV footage, it is easy to see the similarity in appearance between Somyi and this girl.

False accusations and perjury make the former idol’s crime more serious.

The court explained that Somyi’s testimony was inconsistent and did not match the CCTV footage, leading to low credibility. Even though there was clear evidence from surveillance footage and text messages, she still tried to justify.

False accusations are serious crimes that can expose innocent parties to unjust criminal penalties. The former idol’s act of falsely accusing and lying to the investigation agency makes the crime more serious.

Somyi was born in 2000, joined the idol group DIA in 2017. In 2019, she stopped working and began shifting towards being a streamer on the 18+ platform from 2021.

Many people were surprised because the female idol switched to livestreaming on the 18+ platform.

However, due to being involved in the above incident, since January 1023, Somyi has stopped streaming. In addition, the former idol also stopped activities and turned off comments on social networks from August 2023.
