Habeck is probably targeting free areas on houses

Economics Minister Habeck (Greens) wants to promote the expansion of solar energy in Germany, according to the media. For this he has the open spaces on house roofs in his sights.

Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) wants to promote the expansion of solar energy in Germany with a “Solar Package I” and push it both on roofs and open spaces. This is reported by the “Bild” with reference to the draft of the law for the expansion of solar power generation, which is to be passed by the cabinet before the summer break.

Accordingly, every second solar panel that will be built in the next few years will be installed on roofs. The other half is planned for open space systems. In particular, private individuals should be more involved in the energy transition, writes the “Bild”. According to the draft, the regulations for the construction of so-called balcony power plants, solar panels for the home, would be simplified.

Building on roofs should be made easier

In particular, in the future, only notification to the Federal Network Agency will be required when installing a balcony solar system. According to the report, the time-consuming notification to the network operator should be omitted. In addition, the extension on the roof should be made easier. Here, too, according to information from “Bild”, the rules are to be standardized and simplified.

The newspaper also quotes from the draft that outdoor buildings that have already been erected or that are specifically planned should be approved for payment for solar roof systems. This means that electricity generated by means of solar panels can also be sold by owners whose buildings are neither within the scope of a development plan nor within a built-up district.
