[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] Antonio Conte (Italy), the new ‘winner’ manager of Tottenham Hotspur, a team to which Son Heung-min belongs, enjoyed his first victory in the English Premier League (EPL) after taking office. It was also a thrilling comeback.

Tottenham Hotspur scored the first goal in their home match against Leeds United in the 12th round of the 2021-22 season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on the 22nd (Korean time), but later scored consecutive goals in the second half to win 2-1.

This is Tottenham’s first win in the Premier League since Conte took over as manager. Conte also took the helm in the 11th round against Everton, but it was a 0-0 draw.

Tottenham Hotspur, with 19 points from 6 wins, 1 draws and 5 losses, moved up the league standings from 10th to 7th with the victory. After taking office as manager Conte, he continued his undefeated streak with 2 wins and 1 draw in 3 matches played.

On this day, Son Heung-min started as a forward left striker in a 3-4-3 formation. Kane was at the center front and Lucas Moura was at the right.

The first half was disappointing. The precision of the attack process was reduced. Rather, the away team Leeds took the lead and pushed Tottenham. Son Heung-min focused on creating chances for his teammates, such as Kane and Sergio Reguilon, rather than aiming for a direct shot during the first half. However, satisfactory results were not obtained.

Rather, it was Leeds who scored the first goal. In the 44th minute of the first half, Daniel James, who was flooding with a cross from the left by Jack Harrison, made a shot and shook the net.

After a 0-1 lead in the first half, Tottenham started a full-fledged counterattack in the second half. In the first minute of the second half, Kane’s shot hit the goalkeeper of the opponent. In the 6th minute of the second half, Son Heung-min’s cross was deflected by the defense, and then the bad luck came again when it hit the goal post.

However, Tottenham did not slow down the reins in the attack and managed to equalize in the 13th minute of the second half. In a melee in front of the opposing goal, Moura connected the ball to the back from inside the penalty box. Pierre-Emil Hoybjerg, who received this, shook the net with a non-stop left-footed shot. He didn’t have full force on the ball because he wasn’t a good right foot, but luckily the shot rolled in a direction the goalie couldn’t stop.

Tottenham, who gained confidence with the equalizer, scored a comeback goal in the 24th minute of the second half. During the free kick situation, the ball kicked by Eric Dier was deflected by a defender and then bounced off the post. Reguilon rushed in without delay and linked it with a rebound shot, shaking the goal net.

Even after scoring a comeback goal, Tottenham continued to play aggressively. In the 35th minute of the second half, Heung-Min Son grabbed the ball and sprinted, then tried to shoot a unique take-up shot in front of the defense, but it slightly missed the goal. After that, Tottenham took the lead by one goal in the remaining time and secured three valuable points from home.
