THE HAGUE (Reuters) – Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, have questioned medical workers at two major hospitals in the area about possible crimes related to Israel’s attack on the Palestinian autonomous region of Gaza for the for the first time in an interview with Reuters that the investigation had been carried out and that evidence had been obtained.

According to sources, those who testified were medical workers from Shifa Hospital and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. The events around the hospital building could become part of an investigation into war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and invasion.

The Israeli army besieged the two hospitals, claiming that both hospitals were being used for military purposes by the Islamist organization Hamas, a charge flatly denied by Hamas and medical workers. Hundreds of bodies have been exhumed in a mass grave at Nasser Hospital in recent days, and the Palestinians are demanding an investigation. However, it is not clear whether the matter was the subject of hearings.

“Under my administration, Israel will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine its fundamental right to defend itself,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a post on Telegram on the 26th.
