It’s not surprising when the guy who’s been yelling about the horrors of late-stage capitalism on Instagram for the last five‌ years turns his ire towards ICE. But something different ‍has been happening ‌over the week or so, following the most ‌recent ⁣shootings of civilians by federal agents – even ⁤accounts that stay laser focused on golfing, chopping wood, and playing cats like bongos ⁢have started to speak out.

The tenor⁣ on social‍ media and Reddit took an even sharper turn yesterday, following the killing of Alex Pretti by ICE. Even the moderator of normally politics-free r/catbongos (a subreddit “Where⁢ gentlemen, gentlewomen, and gentlethems of⁣ quality⁤ gather to watch cats being played like bongos”) spokeout in a post where they declared that “If you still⁤ support Trump/ICE even slightly, you’re not welcome in this sub.”

That quilters on Instagram or a Facebook account dedicated to New England gravestones have decided enough, is enough,⁣ is‌ one thing. but, judging from the comments,it truly seems like the government ‍has lost the support of r/military as well. The subreddit is filled with angry posters decrying that “this is exactly what tyranny looks like” and sharing ‌memes mocking Secretary of Defense⁤ Pete Hegseth. One ⁢poster ⁣claiming to be an‌ active member of the U.S. Army who has served for 21 years“`html

The response to the murder of George ‌Floyd has been widespread, and it’s extending to corners of the internet you might not expect.⁣ Musicians, TikTokers, and even fitness influencers are using their platforms to voice ‍their support ⁤for the protests and the movement to abolish ICE.

Benn Jordan, Randall Taylor (Amulets),Bad Snacks,‌ and jason Mays, one ‍of the hosts of Working Class Music. The United Musicians & ‍Allied Workers has also called for the abolition of ICE. Many ‌manufacturers have also thrown their support behind‍ the people of Minneapolis, even if it turns off some of their potential customers, including⁣ Drolo, Chase Bliss, and Hungry Robot.

Canadian musician bbno$ decided to break his silence, even if it risked his visa and his current U.S. tour, to ⁣throw his support behind the abolish ICE movement. Even Thoren Bradley, the ⁢Axe Man himself, whose whole ⁢schtick ⁢is being a ripped rural dude who chops wood, has decided to call out‍ the hypocrisy ⁢of the Christian conservatives to his 10.7 million followers.

The National Basketball ⁢Players Association also released a statement, saying that it “stand(s) in‍ solidarity with the people of Minnesota protesting and risking their lives to demand justice.”

That creators like Hank Green ‌ are speaking out is no surprise. But when fitness influencers,

The Pixel 8a is⁤ Google’s latest⁣ attempt to deliver a flagship-level experience at a more affordable price. And for $499,it⁣ largely succeeds. It⁣ borrows a⁤ lot from the Pixel 8,⁣ including the ⁣Tensor G3 chip, the excellent camera system, and many of the software features that make Pixels so appealing.

However, it’s⁣ not a simple downgrade.Google made a few key changes‍ to‍ hit that lower price point. The screen is a bit ‍smaller and less bright, the RAM is reduced to 8GB, and the build materials are more plastic than premium. But these compromises don’t ‌necessarily ⁣make the 8a a bad phone; they just make it a different phone.

Let’s start with the good stuff. The camera is fantastic. It takes‍ sharp, ⁤detailed photos with accurate colors, even in challenging lighting conditions. ‍Google’s image processing is still the best in the business, and features ⁤like ⁣Magic Eraser and Best‌ Take are incredibly useful. The Tensor G3 chip is also a capable performer. It’s not as fast ‌as the chips in the Pixel 8 Pro or other flagship phones, but it’s more than enough for everyday tasks and even some light gaming.

The software experience is also top-notch. The Pixel 8a‍ runs a clean, ⁢bloatware-free version of Android with guaranteed updates for seven years. Google’s AI features, like Call Screen and Live Translate, ⁤are‍ also available, making the⁣ phone even more useful.

Now, let’s talk ⁤about the compromises. The screen is a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s a good-looking screen, but it’s not as bright or vibrant as the screen on the Pixel 8. The reduced RAM can also be noticeable ‍if you’re a heavy multitasker. And the plastic build doesn’t feel as premium as the glass ‌and metal construction of the Pixel 8.

But the Pixel 8a is an ⁤excellent⁣ phone for ⁤the price. It offers a flagship-level camera,a capable processor, and a clean software experience. If you’re⁢ looking for a great phone that won’t break the⁣ bank, the Pixel 8a is definitely worth considering.

    • Challenges and Future Outlook

Electric vehicle (EV) adoption continues ‍to rise, ⁤but the availability of convenient‍ and reliable charging infrastructure remains a key concern for potential buyers. As of January 26, 2026, the charging landscape is evolving rapidly, with critically important developments in charging speeds, network expansion, and standardization.

Charging Speeds: A Speedy Breakdown

Charging ⁣speeds are categorized by ⁣Level. Level 1 charging, using a⁢ standard 120V outlet, is the slowest, adding roughly 2-5 ⁢miles of range per hour. Level 2 ⁢charging, utilizing a‌ 240V outlet (like those used for dryers), is ⁤common for ⁣home and workplace charging, providing 12-80 miles of range per hour. DC fast charging is the quickest, capable of adding 60-200+⁤ miles of range in 20-30⁢ minutes, depending on the vehicle and charger capabilities.

In 2026, 350kW+ chargers are becoming more widespread, though still ‌concentrated in major metropolitan areas and ⁣along major ⁢highway corridors. These chargers can substantially reduce charging times for compatible ⁣vehicles. New battery technology is also enabling faster charging rates without compromising battery health.

Charging Networks: Key Players and Coverage

Several major charging networks dominate the market. Tesla’s Supercharger network remains ⁣a significant player, and in late 2025, opened a substantial portion of its network to non-Tesla EVs, using the North American Charging standard⁢ (NACS). Other prominent networks include:

  • Electrify America: Focuses on DC ‍fast charging, with a growing network across the US. Currently operates over 800 stations with over 3,500 chargers.
  • ChargePoint: ‌offers a mix of Level 2‌ and DC fast charging, ⁢with ⁤a large network primarily focused ‍on workplace and ‌residential charging, but expanding its DC fast charging footprint. Boasts over 230,000 places to plug in.
  • EVgo: Specializes in DC fast charging, with a focus on urban areas. ⁣ Operates over 900 fast charging locations.
  • Blink Charging: Provides a variety ⁤of charging solutions, including Level 2 and DC fast charging.

Coverage varies significantly by region. California, Texas, Florida, and New York have ‌the most developed charging infrastructure.Rural areas continue to lag behind, presenting a challenge‍ for long-distance EV ⁣travel. ‍ Government incentives and private investment are aimed at addressing this gap.

NACS vs.CCS: The Connector Standard Debate

For years, the Combined Charging System (CCS) was the dominant standard for DC fast charging in North America. Though, Tesla’s ⁤NACS connector has ‍gained significant traction. In 2025 and ‍2026, nearly all‌ major automakers announced plans to adopt NACS, either by directly integrating it into their vehicles or ‍offering adapters. This shift is ⁢expected to simplify the charging experience for EV drivers and reduce⁢ connector fragmentation.

The transition to NACS⁢ is ⁢underway, with many charging network operators beginning to install NACS ports alongside ‌CCS ports. The long-term goal is‌ a⁣ unified charging standard, streamlining the charging process for ‌all EV owners.

Challenges and Future Outlook

Despite progress, challenges remain.Charger reliability is a persistent⁢ issue, with ⁣reports of malfunctioning or out-of-service chargers.Pricing transparency and consistency across networks are also concerns. Grid capacity and upgrades are necessary to support the increasing demand for electricity from EVs.

Looking ahead, advancements in ⁢battery technology, wireless charging, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology are expected to ‍further improve the EV charging experience.⁤ Continued investment in infrastructure, ⁤standardization, and reliability will be crucial to accelerating EV ‍adoption and realizing the full potential of electric transportation.
