ISL: End of unbeaten run by Chennai FC; Mumbai City FC win

Fatorda: The unbeaten run of Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) comes to an end. Chennai lost to Mumbai City FC today. Rahul Behke scored Mumbai’s goal in the 86th minute. Mumbai also had the upper hand in the competition. With the win, Mumbai retained the number one position. Mumbai are top of the table with 15 points from six matches. Chennai are fifth with eight points from five matches.

Mumbai were in the lead in ball possession and shots. About 70 per cent of the match was with Mumbai. 15 shots were fired. Five of these were on target. Only one crossed the line. Chennai, on the other hand, hit seven shots. Only two were tested by the goalkeeper.

The first half was goalless. Defending champions Mumbai missed opportunities. Chennai’s excessive defense was also a stumbling block. But the victory came in the 86th minute. Rahul shook his head at Ahmed Jahauh’s pass.

The former champions will face off in the ISL tomorrow. ATK Mohan Bagan will take on Bangalore FC. ATK is currently ranked sixth. Bangalore is in ninth position.
