JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said on Wednesday that any decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) would not affect Israel’s actions, but it would set a dangerous precedent.

“We will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine the fundamental right to self-defense,” he said on the Telegram messaging app. “The ICC decision does not affect Israel’s actions, but it sets a dangerous precedent that threatens soldiers and public figures.”

Israel’s commercial TV channel Channel 12 reported last week that Israel is increasingly concerned that the ICC may issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other government officials for alleged violations of international law in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said they had held “urgent consultations” regarding the matter.
