It was also gastronomic diversity!

From January 27 to February 5, 2023, the capital of Burkina Faso shone in the colors of the International Crafts Fair of Ouagadougou (SIAO). A real springboard for craftsmen, this event is also a gastronomic space par excellence. In addition to the maquis and restaurants established to refresh festival-goers, it is the place for some to make known the specialties of their region. Dame Ipo and Konan Laure are excellent ambassadors…

From January 27 to February 5, 2023, Ouagavillois moved in the footsteps of SIAO. For some participants, it was to see the magic of artisans, through their exhibitions. As for others, it was more the spaces dedicated to gastronomy that guided their steps. It is in this sense that Dame Ipo for this edition has opted for restoration.

« We came to present the stung chicken, the stung fish, the fisherman’s soup, the kopeh sauce with the placali, the Ivorian kedjenou », she lists. To already see what it presents, one can without being mistaken guess that it is from Côte d’Ivoire. She made the trip to show the Ivorian specialties of the country of Houphouët Boigny, because as we know, the SIAO is a major international event.

« We decided to join catering to this festival dedicated to crafts, because at SIAO we find people from all over the world, and we decided to come and present Ivorian dishes so that the whole world can discover our menus, our dishes we make at home “, she relates.

What could be more beautiful than to accompany these Ivorian specialties with Ivorian drinks. It is then in this dynamic that Laure Konan invited herself to this 16e editing. ” We have come to present our products to you. We have gastronomy as we presented it to you.

Also, we have Ivorian liquor, which is commonly called guêlê, guêlê with the roots, it’s a bit therapeutic for people who are constipated, with malaria, stomach wounds. You know, we are in Africa, there are Africans who cannot start from 4 am, and we have this remedy in this liquor which is commonly called 4 am. When you take that, as a good African boy, you gon’ wake up and do what there is to do “, she confides.

The choice to market this liqueur is not at all trivial, according to him. ” There are liqueurs that we find in supermarkets and others, and as we come from Côte d’Ivoire, we wanted to bring back a typical Ivorian product, and that is only in Côte d’Ivoire that we find , so that’s why we sent to exhibit for everyone to see ».

If there is one thing to remember during this 16e edition is that the market was not fluorescent enough for the exhibitors. All in all, this edition has been rich in color. Appointment is thus made for edition 16 with many more innovations.
