Japan to attend first NATO leaders’ meeting

Japan, a key US ally and not a NATO member, sent defense supplies to Ukraine. and imposed strict sanctions against Russia together with other G7 countries, Prime Minister Kishida said. “We are the only Asian country in the G7. Prime Minister Kishida has hosted a Quad Leaders’ Summit in recent weeks and traveled to several countries including the Shangri-La Dialogue Security Leaders Forum in Singapore on Friday (June 10).

“Personally, I feel that it is very urgent. Ukraine today could be East Asia tomorrow,” Kishida warned at the Singapore forum.

Sweden and Finland who applied to join NATO sent representatives to attend the meeting. Meanwhile, President Yun South Korea’s Sogyeol was also the country’s first leader to attend the meeting.
