Jeon In-ji on the LPGA Tour Founders Cup 3R tied for 8th… Lee Min-ji’s sole leader

By the second round, 13th place Park Sung-hyun lost 5 strokes and was pushed to the 60th place.

Jeon In-ji (28) tied for 8th in the third round of the Cognitive Founders Cup ($3 million total prize money) on the LPGA Tour.

In the third round of the tournament held at the Upper Montclair Country Club (par 72, 6,656 yards) in Clifton, New Jersey, USA on the 15th (Korean time), Jeon In-ji recorded a 3-under par 69 with 6 birdies and 3 bogeys.

Jeon In-ji, who shot a total of 8-under 208 over three days, reached the final round in a tie for 8th along with Nasa Hataoka (Japan) and Jennifer Cupcho (USA).

Jeon In-ji, who saw her second ‘Top 10’ performance after tied for second at the HSBC World Championship in March, scored 17-under 199, which is 9 strokes away from the solo leader Lee Min-ji (Australia).

In-ji Jeon, who took a stand by swapping 3 birdies and 3 bogeys until the 11th hole (par 4), reduced her stroke by one at the 12th, 14th, and 15th holes and jumped into the competition for the top spot.

The number of putts with 24 in the 2nd round and 27 in the 3rd round was stable, and the green hit rate was not bad at 72.2% (13/18).

Lee Min-ji, who took first place alone, will challenge for 7 wins on the tour for the first time in about 10 months since the Evian Championship, a major event in July last year.

Madeleine Sachström (Sweden) recorded a 16-under 200 and is chasing second by one stroke alone, so it is too early to be relieved.

At 14-under 202, Lexi Thompson (USA) is in third place alone, three shots behind the lead and two shots behind second-placed Sachstrom.

Hyejin Choi (23) and Jieun Shin (30) finished the third round with a 7-under 209 shot and tied for 12th.

Park Seong-hyeon (29), who finished tied for 13th until the second round, lost five shots with two birdies and seven bogeys that day, and was pushed down to a tie for 62nd by one-under-par 215.

Park Seong-hyeon missed the cut three times in the previous five competitions this season, and stayed in the top 60 in the remaining two competitions.

Jinyoung Ko (27), the world No. 1 winner of the 2019 and 2021 competitions, tied for 25th with a 5-under 211 stroke.
