Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), under the leadership of President Hwang Ju-ho, is gearing up for the arrival of the powerful typhoon ‘Kanun’ in Korea. In order to ensure the safe operation of their power plants, an emergency situation review meeting is being held, with the CEO at the forefront of these preparations.

The headquarters in Daegu recently hosted an emergency inspection meeting on August 9. Representatives from various power plants, including nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power plants, and pumped-storage plants, gathered for this crucial meeting.

During the meeting, CEO Hwang Joo-ho stressed the importance of conducting thorough inspections to mitigate any potential damage. Additionally, he emphasized the need to thoroughly assess the impact on local residents after the typhoon passes.

KHNP has implemented a proactive disaster management system, carefully monitoring the typhoon’s trajectory. By inspecting the stability of facilities and drainage channels across all power plants, they aim to prevent damage at its source. Furthermore, emergency response personnel have been organized and familiarized with their duties, ensuring rapid action in case of an emergency.

Commenting on the situation, CEO Hwang Joo-ho stated, “With expectations that the entire Korean Peninsula will be affected by the typhoon, we are prepared to promptly respond to any changes in weather conditions and maintain optimal readiness for the safe operation of our power plants.”
