Korean Medical Association Emergency Response Committee Resolves Conflicts and Unifies After Election: Government Silent

◀ Again ▶

The medical association’s emergency response committee held its first meeting since the general election.

Before discussing countermeasures based on the election results, they seemed to focus on resolving recently emerged internal conflicts and unification.

The government, which has suspended briefings since the 9th, has remained silent, even canceling the Central Intelligence Agency briefing scheduled for tomorrow without revealing the reason.

Kim Taek-woo, chairman of the Emergency Committee of the Medical Association, and Lim Hyun-taek, president-elect of the Medical Association, announced that they have resolved the misunderstandings that existed.

Previously on the 8th, President-elect Lim expressed his intention to serve as the chairman of the emergency committee of the Korean Medical Association, but the emergency committee responded the next day, calling it an “unreasonable claim” , and an internal conflict broke out. .

Today 140,000 doctors have reached a consensus that “we are all one” and have decided to work together towards a single goal.”

The Korean Medical Association has also begun to resolve the controversy surrounding the emergency president of the Park Dan Residents Association.

Some professors protested publicly when President Park cited an article on his SNS that included the expression that professors in teaching hospitals were middle managers in a chain of exploitation, but the Korean Medical Association criticized the professor, saying that President Park was speaking only about the direction of medical reform. He explained that he had no intention of doing so.

At the same time, he stressed that there were no communication problems, as President Park Dan attended today’s emergency committee meeting.

The medical community’s single plan stated that there would be no change in its position of reconsidering the original point of increasing the number of medical schools.

“I would like to emphasize once again that we demand that the Ministry of Education’s current medical school quota allocation system be discontinued.”

A key official from the Korean Medical Association said: “There are internal expectations that the government, which has lost momentum for reforms due to the ruling party’s crushing defeat in the general election, will show a conciliatory attitude, but on the other hand , there is a possibility that he will take a tough position, so we will wait and see the government’s position without predicting it. “I will,” he said.

Meanwhile the government, which had canceled the briefings and had remained silent since the 9th, this afternoon even canceled, without any explanation, the briefing at the headquarters scheduled for tomorrow.
