Candidate Lee met with reporters after visiting the Korean Medical Association in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the same day, saying, “It is a bit early to judge whether it is necessary or not,” he said.
He continued, “Ex-CEO Kim is a competent politician that I personally respect, so I contact him often.”
Candidate Lee responded by saying, “CEO Lee Jun-seok often speaks harsh words,” in response to criticism of Lee Jun-seok, president of the People’s Power, as a ‘crazy politician’ for his remarks in Honam.
“It is true that in the past, regional discrimination that instigated conflicts between the people and obtained political benefits was very helpful to certain political forces,” he said. .
Candidate Lee said, “Unfortunately, regional discrimination has become a difficult situation to take issue with, but now it separates men and women, instigating conflict and division, and also instigating intergenerational conflict and hatred.” He said, “I said that we should never do the ‘conflict-inducing politics’ like Lee’s or Yoon’s ceremony to gain profits.”
He added, “It is true that the Park Chung-hee administration in the past benefited from the separation of Yeong and Ho-nam and preferential treatment to Yeongnam. It is a painful historical fact and cannot be denied.” He said, “In an era when unity is important, President Lee wants you to look back on the far-right populist tendency to use division and hatred to gain political power. The same goes for Yoon. “History will never forgive the acquisition of political interests,” he said.
Candidate Lee also criticized the proposal of the People’s Power “Let’s have a bilateral discussion at 7 pm on the 31st”, saying, “I can’t quite understand why it should be decided at 7 pm on the 31st.”
He continued, “I think it is best to discuss other candidates (multilateral discussions) as much as possible. Shouldn’t we be given a fair chance?” he explained.
He also said to the people’s power, “I hope that the other party does not put on unacceptable conditions when negotiating. It is often a condition.”
