Legislative and regional elections in Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé voted in Pya (North)

President Faure Gnassingbé, slipping his ballot into the ballot box

The Togolese head of state Faure Gnassingbé voted in Pya (more than 420 km north of Lomé) this Monday, for the legislative and regional elections.

The President of the Republic fulfilled his civic duty at polling station No. 1 of the Maman N’Danida High School in Pya (Kozah 2 commune).

Faure Gnassingbé welcomed the smooth running of voting operations throughout the country and invited his compatriots to fulfill their civic duty with complete peace of mind with a view to consolidating our country’s democratic achievements.

“While rejoicing at the peaceful conduct of the vote throughout the national territory, I urge all our fellow citizens to fulfill their civic duty in serenity for the consolidation of our democratic achievements,” said the President of the Republic on his account X (former Twitter).

A total of 113 deputies and 179 regional councilors will be elected during the double ballot. And this is the first time that Togo is organizing regional elections. FIN
