“Lent is a time to return to God”

Allowing patients waiting in the emergency room to access hospitalization associated with their health condition in less than 12 hours is the main objective of the recognized clinical management model implemented by the Regional Hospital, Dr. Franco Ravera Zunino (HFRZ), which today positions it as a national reference in the matter, given the multiple benefits that its hospital efficiency plan grants to patients, among them, access to comprehensive care and the most timely resolution of their pathology.

In this context, the representatives of the Regional Hospital of Talca decided to undertake their field visit, arriving with a delegation of specialists to Rancagua. “We wanted to know first-hand how the Rancagua Regional Hospital is managing, specifically in the Emergency Department, to optimize its care, its resources, the availability of beds, and the course of its patients’ hospitalization.” , expressed Dr. Patricio Ibáñez, head of the Emergency Unit, emphasizing that “until now, the response has been very positive, since we have been demonstrating its good work scheme in our journey. We had already heard before about this efficiency model, which allows the Emergency Department to be decongested, which does not register hospitalizations there, which is capable of simplifying the wait for patients and eventually hospitalizing them on time.”

With the above, the Talca Hospital professional stated that “our health center still has patients waiting for a hospitalization slot in the Emergency Department, so providing us with all the necessary background information this day, from the voice of the specialists, will make it easier for us to put into practice. its strategy in the short term. While it is true, we do intense local emergency work, we hope to be more like you.”

The director(s) of the HFRZ, Adolfo Beck, expressed that “the visit of the representatives of the Regional Hospital of Talca is appreciated. It is very pleasant to see your motivation to review our emergency procedures, because it is an outstanding project at the national level, which has meant that we are a reference today, in which we have developed a process of change in our organizational culture for several years, in order to effectively reduce people’s waiting times in our Emergency Department, and ensure that they have the proper hospitalization if they need it, more quickly and fluidly. We had a visit from the Concepción Health Service some time ago, and today we received the Regional Hospital of Talca, which urges us to continue, to do things well so that the model is replicated in more hospitals in Chile, and strengthens public health for the entire community.”

For the emergency physician, Dr. María Eugenia Barreto, head of the Emergency Service at the Regional Hospital, the arrival of the Talquina delegation is “very positive for our emergency team. During this visit we have been able to provide feedback, share our experiences, explain our processes and the well-being that the model entails for patients. Our care is patient-centered and we hope it can be repeated in all public hospitals in the country since it represents an enormous benefit.”
