And this is a bombshell statement from a man who was praised as Liverpool’s great captain. Who said what and who said what?
The main character is Steven Gerrard. There is no disagreement. Gerrard is one of the greatest players in Liverpool history. He started out in Liverpool’s youth ranks, rising to the first team in 1998, and played 17 seasons until 2015. He played a total of 710 matches and scored 186 goals. He ranks 3rd in Liverpool’s all-time appearances and 6th in points. He also led Liverpool to win the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

However, Gerrard made a shocking statement. It was a statement that he regretted not being able to transfer to EPL rival Chelsea. It is even more shocking because Gerrard, the symbol of Liverpool, and not another player, made this statement. Why did you say this about Gerrard?
Gerrard said on a podcast: “I almost moved to Chelsea when I was playing. Jose Mourinho wanted me. I regret not playing for Mourinho because I know he would have made me a better player. “If I had gone to Mourinho’s side, we could have won more trophies,” he said.
Gerrard added, “At the time, I was contemplating whether to stay at Liverpool or go to Chelsea, and ultimately decided to stay at Liverpool. My father is a big fan of Liverpool. My younger brother and all my friends were Liverpool supporters.”
Lastly, Gerrard expressed his affection for Liverpool, saying, “Many media outlets have criticized Gerrard by saying, ‘He should have gone to Chelsea.’ But I always found myself wanting to be at Liverpool. Everything I had was focused on Liverpool.”
