Egyptian artist Marwa Abdel Moneim boldly faced a wave of criticism and ridicule on social media, due to her appearance being overweight and always wearing a “wig” recently.
Marwa decided not to remain silent, and to put an end to the gossip that followed her, and revealed the truth about the severe psychological crisis she had been subjected to, which led to her weight gaining significantly, reaching 70 kilograms, and her hair clearly falling out, forcing her to wear a wig.
Marwa shared on her Facebook account a group of photos of herself, during which she appeared overweight. She also showed in another photo her unusual hair loss, and accompanied it with a poignant comment, during which she explained the bad period she went through, and also how she was affected by the criticism she was subjected to because of her appearance.
At the beginning of her post, Marwa revealed her decision to stay away from wearing a “wig,” after the bad psychological spiral she went through, which brought her to that stage.
The artist pointed out that she gradually returned to her usual weight and shape, with the exception of her hair, which clearly did not respond to treatment, but she nevertheless decided to leave the “wig” and complete the treatment phase.
Criticism of its appearance
Marwa expressed her sadness and being affected by the criticism and negative comments she was subjected to during the recent period. Because of her external appearance and wearing a wig, she said: There were many people who would stop and say, “Why are you wearing a wig?” You don’t look good in it, but I didn’t want to say it at the time, nor did I want to talk, but the words made me very hurtful, and it made me very upset with myself.
Marwa hoped that all of her followers would not criticize anyone based on their outward appearance, because others do not know what the person is going through.
Psychological crisis
Marwa described the psychological crisis she went through as “difficult,” because she was not aware that pain was capable of causing her to become devastated and weak in this way.
Marwa stressed that she prefers the girl who appears naturally without wearing makeup or wearing a wig, which made her feel “suffocated” by her situation during the past period.
The Egyptian artist concluded her post, saying: Now I can tell all the people who told me, “Why are you wearing a wig?” Please, the picture speaks for itself.
