New AI Model Aims for Photorealistic Results
Microsoft has announced MAI-Image-1, its first text-to-image generator developed entirely in-house. The company described the launch as “the next step on our journey” following the recent unveiling of its first internally developed AI models.
Microsoft prioritized feedback from creative professionals during development to avoid generating “repetitive or generically-stylized outputs.” The company claims MAI-Image-1 “excels” at creating photorealistic images,especially of subjects like lightning and landscapes.
Speed and Ranking on lmarena
According to Microsoft, MAI-Image-1 can process requests and generate images more quickly than “larger, slower models.” The model has already achieved a position within the top 10 on LMArena, an AI benchmark site where human evaluators compare and vote on the outputs of different AI systems.
