Colombian Motorcycle sales Surge: September Figures adn Regional Trends
Motorcycle sales in Colombia continued their strong performance in September 2024, reaching 102,831 units sold – a considerable 50.1% increase compared to the same period last year. This makes September the second-best month for sales this year, trailing only July’s impressive 112,214 units.
Brand Performance: Bajaj leads the way
Bajaj emerged as the leading motorcycle brand in September, selling 17,656 units and experiencing a remarkable 66.4% month-over-month growth.Yamaha secured the second position with 15,705 units sold (a 21.8% increase), closely followed by Suzuki, which recorded sales of 15,481 units – a notable 53.2% jump.
Collectively, Bajaj, Yamaha, and Suzuki accounted for 47% of all motorcycle sales in Colombia during September, demonstrating their dominant position in the market.
Year-to-Date Growth and Regional Hotspots
Through the first nine months of 2024, an average of 88,919 new motorcycles have been registered each month in Colombia. This translates to an overall year-to-date growth of 36.95% for the motorcycle industry.
The departments of Cundinamarca, Antioquia, and Valle del Cauca are driving much of this growth. Within these regions, the municipalities of Sabaneta (Antioquia), Funza (Cundinamarca), and El Cerrito (Valle del Cauca) have recorded the highest number of motorcycle registrations.
