Korean recurve archery has once again proved that it is the strongest in the world by achieving the feat of winning all sports at the World Championships for the first time in 12 years. Kim Woo-jin (29, Cheongju City Hall) washed away the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics and achieved three gold medals, while Jang Min-hee (22, Incheon National University) and Ansan (20, Gwangju Women’s University) each won two.

Kim Woo-jin defeated Marcus Daumeida (Brazil) 7-3 (29-26 29-28 27-30 28-28 29) in the men’s individual recurve final on the 7th day of the tournament held in Yankton, South Dakota, USA on the 27th (Korea time). -27) to win the gold medal.

Kim Woo-jin only won gold in the men’s team event at the Tokyo Olympics. The right to participate in the mixed team event was handed over to the youngest, Je-deok Kim (17, Gyeongbuk Il High), and was eliminated in the quarterfinals in the individual event.

In this tournament, Woojin Kim won the mixed team event, the men’s team event, and the individual event, and took the 3rd prize. Kim Woo-jin is the first among men and women to win three gold medals in a world championship. Woojin Kim has won two gold medals (individual and team) at the 2011 and 2015 Copenhagen competitions.

After the match, Kim Woo-jin said, “It seems like it took a lot of time to get to this moment. I will continue to work hard to build my archery career,” he said.

In the women’s individual finals held earlier, Korea swept both men’s and women’s individual events as Min-hee Jang perfectly defeated Casey Cofold (USA) 6-0 (29-27 28-27 29-26).

Korea, which had already won the men’s and women’s team and mixed team events, also won the men’s and women’s individual events, taking all five gold medals in the recurve event. It is the first time in 12 years since the 2009 Ulsan Games that a country has swept the World Championships. Even then, the protagonist was Korea. At that time, only men’s and women’s individual and group exhibitions were held. This is the first time they have won all events in the tournament since the 2011 Turin Games, when mixed team events were introduced.

Ansan’s much-anticipated three crowns failed. Ansan, who secured two gold medals in the team and mixed team events of this tournament, was aiming for three gold medals for the second time in a row following the Tokyo Olympics, but lost to Cofold in the semi-finals and was frustrated from advancing to the finals.

However, in the 3rd and 4th place match, they defeated Alejandra Valencia (Mexico) 6-4 to win the bronze medal. Two gold medalists at the Tokyo Olympics, Kim Je-duk lost to Brady Ellison (USA) 0-6 in the quarterfinals and failed to win a medal.

Korea won five gold medals and one bronze medal in the recurve of this tournament, consolidating its status as the most powerful archery nation. After the closing of the Tokyo Olympics, it was a situation where the concentration of the players could be disturbed due to the love calls for various events, but there was no abnormality.

Meanwhile, in the compound event, she won only one bronze medal in the mixed team event and finished the world championship with ‘No Gold’ for the first time in 8 years since 2013. The Korean national archery players will return to Korea on the 28th.
