Namakkal Chicken: 5 Crore Eggs ‘Go’ For World Cup Football – Namakkal Chicken

Erode ∙ This month, 5 crore eggs are being prepared for export from Namakkal chicken farms in Tamil Nadu to prepare food for the football fans arriving in Qatar with only 9 days left for the start of the World Cup football.

2 crore eggs have been exported in the last two days. Egg exports will continue until January 2023. World Cup football became a new excitement for chicken farm owners who were in crisis.

With the popularity of Indian chicken eggs, between 2007 and 2008, 12 to 15 crore eggs were exported from Namakkal to 11 Gulf countries including Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, as well as Afghanistan and Africa.

But as these countries decided to reduce the shelf life of chicken eggs in India from 6 months to 3 months, the egg exports from India decreased. Due to bird flu in states including Kerala, they reduced the purchase of eggs from India under the insistence of European countries. Taking advantage of this, Turkey, one of the leading egg exporting countries, doubled the price of eggs last month after the arrival of the World Cup. Because of this, countries including Qatar are once again dependent on the Indian market.

Egg production centers in India, including Namakkal district in Tamil Nadu, are expected to export 3 times more than the previous year. Markets including USA are trying to destroy the Indian market by offering lower prices.

To overcome this, central and state governments should provide bird flu-free certificates to egg production centers, said officials of the Namakkal Egg Production and Marketing Association.
