Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected calls from the international community, including the United States, to refrain from striking back against Iran, saying, “We are deciding on revenge.”

Iran repeatedly warned that “there will be severe punishment in case of a second counterattack.”

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said he had received advice from allies who helped prevent the Iranian attack, but would decide to strike again on his own.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said this while presenting details of his meeting with the British and German foreign ministers in a cabinet meeting on the 17th local time.

“Leaders from all over the world offer suggestions and advice. Thank you, but we will make our own decisions.”

Before that, the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron and the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Verbok, visited Israel to order them to refrain from a second counter-attack.

“We hope that when they (Israel) do that, they will act wisely but in a difficult way and in a way that will lead to as little escalation of conflict as possible.”

Israel, which suffered a large-scale air attack by Iran last weekend, has announced its intention to strike back, but is struggling with timing and method.

On the same day, Iran celebrated the ‘successful attack’ in a military parade and warned that it would “punish severely” if Israel counterattacked.

“We must be sure that if the Zionist regime (Israel) goes against our homeland or our interests, they will face a very big and harsh response.”

The parade on this day included drones believed to have been used in Israeli airstrikes.

Although Israel is preparing to retaliate against Iran, the United States believes that “escalating tensions with Iran is not in the interest of either the United States or Israel.”

US Secretary of State Tony Blinken reportedly said in a meeting with US Jewish leaders that “the response must be smart, strategic, and as limited as possible.”

Meanwhile, fighting with neighboring countries continues, with the Lebanese pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah attacking a village in northern Israel, injuring 18 people.
