New category of driver’s license. Affects the most desirable cars

The EU is considering the introduction of category B+ for drivers of off-road vehicles (SUVs), the number of which is constantly growing, BTA informs. It is specified that the head of the negotiations between the EU institutions on the part of the European Parliament, Karima Dali, proposes that this subcategory of drivers be necessary for the management of vehicles with a total weight of more than 1,800 kilograms.

The media noted that if such a change were to be adopted, it would also affect some electric cars because of the weight of their batteries. According to Daly, category B+ must be acquired by drivers who have held category B for at least two years and are at least 21 years old.

Dali also proposes that the maximum speed of motor vehicles in the EU should be 130 km/h. (90 km/h for young drivers), as well as to introduce a uniform driver’s license with points to be taken away in case of violation. It is added that the negotiations on these issues are related to the proposal of the European Commission, presented earlier this year, which foresees future changes in the European certificates for legal administration.
