[ウェリントン 26日 ロイター] – New Zealand and Australia expressed concern on the 26th about malicious cyber activity by groups supported by the Chinese government. The New Zealand government also revealed that parliament-related organizations suffered damage in 2021.

New Zealand Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) Minister Judith Collins said: “The use of cyber-enabled espionage to interfere with democratic institutions and processes is unacceptable anywhere.”

Australian Foreign Minister Wong and Home Secretary O’Neill also said in a statement that the continued targeting of democratic institutions and processes has inevitable consequences for a democratic and open society like Australia.

According to Collins, the group called APT40, which is supported by the Chinese government, carried out cyber operations targeting Congressional organizations in 2021. It is said to have ties to China’s Ministry of State Security. The company explained that it was shut down immediately after the internal network was infiltrated.

On the 25th, the United States and the United Kingdom revealed the extent of China’s extensive cyber espionage activities, and announced prosecutions and related sanctions against seven hackers believed to have been involved. See more
