The Minnesota Twins will be without their ace, Pablo López, for an extended period.López, 29, has a grade 2 strain of the teres major muscle in his right shoulder, the team announced. The injury, sustained during Tuesday’s game, is expected to sideline him for at least two months, possibly longer.
López, a key part of the Twins’ pitching rotation, will not begin throwing for at least four weeks. In 11 starts, he posted a 2.82 ERA and a 4.36 strikeout-to-walk ratio, contributing an estimated 1.3 Wins Above Replacement. His absence creates a significant void in the Twins’ pitching plans.
