Park Soo-myung, ‘first generation broadcast makeup artist’ dies

Park Soo-myeong, former managing director of MBC Art Center, who pioneered theatrical and broadcast makeup for 40 years from 1958 and made the first makeup car, died of old age on the 17th. 84 years old.

Born in Manchuria in 1938, the deceased attended Yongsan High School and the English Department of Kukhak University (integrated into Korea University). After studying directing at the theater training center of the National Theater of Korea, he turned to make-up and entered the KBS stage department in 1964. In 1969, he moved to MBC and was responsible for making over 1,000 dramas. The hairstyles of former queens and courtiers were directly verified, and in ‘The First Republic’ (1981-1982), actor Choi Bul-am was transformed into former President Rhee Syng-man, and in ‘Saenginson’ (1986), Han Ae -kyung is portrayed from a daughter to an old woman in her 90s.
