Table of Contents
Visitors to the Acropolis in Athens are currently enjoying an unobstructed view of the Parthenon for the first time in decades, following the removal of extensive scaffolding. Greek Culture Minister lina Mendoni described the experience as seeing “a wholly different monument” during a Friday interview on Skai radio.
the removal of the scaffolding is a temporary reprieve, though. New,lighter scaffolding is scheduled to be erected on the western side of the Parthenon within approximately one month. Mendoni assured that this new scaffolding will be “aesthetically much closer to the logic of the monument,” minimizing its visual impact.
The renewed conservation work is projected to continue until early summer 2026,after which the Parthenon is expected to be “completely freed of this scaffolding,” allowing visitors to experience the iconic structure in its full glory.
