Rajkot – BCCI secretary Jai Shah has warned that players under BCCI central contract must be present for red ball matches in domestic cricket. Ishan Kishan, who took leave from the Indian team due to mental stress, started training for the IPL without playing the Ranji Trophy. Ishan started training with Indian players Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya in Baroda. BCCI’s intervention is in this situation.
“The players have been told over the phone that they have to play domestic cricket. Now instructions are also given by letter. If the selectors, the coach or the captain of the team so request, it is compulsory to play domestic cricket. But if the National Cricket Academy gives a report that the player is unable to play, then there will be relaxation in this regard. Initially, Kohli only took leave from the first two matches of the series against England. But the BCCI later confirmed that Kohli will not play any of the matches in the series. The BCCI explained that Kohli’s absence was due to personal reasons.
