A man has been arrested in England on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and committing a public order offence near the home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026. The incident occurred in Wolferton, on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, shortly after 7:30 pm local time, following reports that Mountbatten-Windsor had been threatened while walking his dogs.

According to Norfolk Police, officers were called to the scene after receiving a report of a man behaving in an intimidating manner. The suspect, who was described as approaching Mountbatten-Windsor and shouting at him, was subsequently arrested. Witnesses reported that the former prince, accompanied by his private security detail, drove away at speed after the confrontation, with the suspect allegedly running after him. The suspect was taken into custody and remains in police detention for questioning at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.

The arrest marks the latest security-related incident involving Mountbatten-Windsor, who has faced increased scrutiny since his arrest in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office while serving as the UK’s trade envoy. In October 2025, he surrendered his royal titles, including “Prince” and “Duke of York,” following the fallout from his association with Jeffrey Epstein. King Charles III has previously stated that “the law must take its course,” emphasizing support for police investigations into his brother’s actions.

Mountbatten-Windsor relocated to Marsh Farm, his new permanent residence on the Sandringham Estate, last month after leaving the Royal Lodge in Windsor. The move followed the withdrawal of his publicly funded protection by the Metropolitan Police in 2019, and security concerns have been raised about his new rural location. Extra security measures, including an electric fence and a six-foot-tall wooden fence, have reportedly been installed around his property.

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges for the former prince, who has been stripped of his titles and publicly funded support. His recent legal troubles and the release of additional “Epstein files” by the US Department of Justice in January 2026 have further intensified public and media attention on his personal and professional life.
