People’s Power raised allegations of ‘corporate card misappropriation’ in relation to Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung and his wife Kim Hye-kyung.

Won Il-hee, a spokesperson for the People’s Power campaign headquarters, said, “Public officials who were found to have misappropriated corporate cards between July 2018, when Lee was governor of Gyeonggi Province, and October last year, were subject to reprimands or severe disciplinary action, such as demotion or pay reduction, depending on the amount.”

Won spokesperson said, “A number of Gyeonggi Provincial government corporate cards were also used when Hye-kyung Kim ordered her secretaries to deliver beef and sushi.” and criticized it.

Spokesperson Won said, “Corporate cards used illegally by public officials are embezzlement and will be punished.

Choi Ji-hyeon, senior deputy spokesperson, also claimed that the payment was made at a fugu restaurant near Lee’s home in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and that 3.18 million won was paid with a corporate card at the restaurant, which is 1 hour and 20 minutes away from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office.

In response to such an offensive, the Democratic Party’s election leader refuted, “The claim of the People’s Power that Lee’s spouse ordered corporate card payment is a malicious negative with a clear falsehood.”

“This candidate’s spouse has already stated that it will reveal the exact facts through investigation and audit,” the Democratic Party’s election committee member said.
