Kochi: The High Court has accepted the petition filed by the prosecution against the trial court in the case of attacking the actress. The action was taken by the High Court vacation bench. The prosecution had approached the high court against the non-acceptance of the list of witnesses for re-examination. Opposition parties, including actor Dileep, have been directed to send a notice through a special envoy. The petition was adjourned till January 6 for reconsideration.

The prosecution had sought permission to cross-examine 16 witnesses in the case of the attack on the actress. Seven of them have testified before. The prosecution argued that there was a need to seek further information from them. The prosecution had also sought a fresh explanation from the nine. But the trial court had yesterday rejected the prosecution’s demand.

The court allowed only the retrial of the three. The court allowed two to be called and one to be added to the list of new witnesses. But the prosecution says this is not enough.
