PSG One Win Away from Clinching League Title with Victory over Lorient

There is only one win left to win the league.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won 4-1 against Lorient in the 29th round of Ligue 1 in the 2023-2024 season held at the Stade du Mustoir in Lorient, France at 2 am on the 25th (Korea time).

PSG, who added 3 points, managed to keep first place in the league with 69 points (20 wins, 9 draws, 1 loss). Had second placed AS Monaco, who later faced LOSC Lille, not won, they would have been able to win the league, but Monaco defeated Lille 1–0, delaying confirmation of the league championship.

PSG used a 4-3-3 formation. Kylian Mbappe, Gonzalo Hamus, and Ousmane Dembele formed a combination up front, while Lee Kang-in, Seni Mayulu, and Fabian Luis stood in midfield. Nuno Mendes, Lucas Hernández, Milan Skriniar, and Joram Zag formed the back four, with Gianluigi Donnarumma donning the goalkeeper’s gloves.

PSG scored the first goal. Dembele, who received a forward pass on 19 minutes of the first half, attacked from the right to the center and hit the net with a powerful left-footed shot from inside the box.

In the 21st minute of the first half, PSG created another opportunity. Lee Kang-in caught the ball in the middle and passed it to Dembele, who was rushing to the right. Dembele didn’t have a shooting opportunity, so it didn’t lead to a shooting opportunity.

Soon, PSG widened the gap in the 22nd minute of the first half. Mbappe connected with a quick cross from the left side with a simple shot and managed to score.

The first half ended with PSG leading 2-0.

PSG’s attack continued in the second half. In the 15th minute of the second half, Mbappe caught Lee Kang-in’s pass, broke through the left side with great individual skill, and fired in a cross. Dembele, who was waiting at the door in the box, pushed in, making the score 3-0.

PSG won. In the 45th minute of the second half, Mbappe received a forward pass, came in from the left side to the right, and fired a right-footed shot that went straight into the net.
