Rahane clicks with Ranji century; Pujara ‘flop’ with ‘Duck’! | Pujara out for duck

Ahmedabad: Cheteshwar Pujara, who came to play in the Ranji Trophy to regain his form after a string of international defeats, was out for a duck in the first innings. Pujara Dhaka is on the third day of the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. In the fourth ball of the innings, Mumbai’s Mohit Awasthi Pujara was caught in the LB. Saurashtra were bowled out for a huge score in the first innings by Pujara and others.

Pujara’s 29 – year – old Mohi Awasthi is making his debut for Mumbai. Mohit, who has bowled 14 overs so far, has taken four wickets for 56 runs. Apart from Pujara, Vishwaraj Singh Jadeja, Vasavada and Prerak Mankad surrendered to Mohit.

Pujara is repeating his poor form in domestic cricket on the international stage after Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane regained his form with a smashing century in the first innings. Rahane, who came in fourth for Mumbai, hit 129 off 290 balls with 17 fours and two sixes. Along with Rahane, Sarfraz Khan scored a double century (275) to help Mumbai reach 544 for seven in the first innings.

This ‘duck’ in the Ranji Trophy could pose a threat to Pujara’s place in the squad for the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. The first match of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka will be played in Mohali from March 4 to 8. The second Test will be played in Bangalore from March 12 to 16.
