Raj Kundra Reveals Shilpa Shetty’s Take on Leaving India After Blue Film Case

MUMBAI: Raj Kundra revealed that his wife, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, had suggested they leave India once he was released from jail in the blue film making case. In an interview with the national media, Kundra shared that both he and his family felt hunted, but Shetty’s support gave him renewed hope to carry on. This revelation comes at a crucial time as Kundra’s film ‘UT 69’, in which he stars, is about to release.

“My wife was the first to propose the idea of relocating abroad. She herself was born and raised in London and had left everything behind to be with me here. Shilpa said that if I wanted to leave the country, she would be willing to go too. However, I expressed my love for India and my desire to stay. It’s the wrongdoers who should leave the country. People who commit serious crimes amass wealth and flee, but I haven’t done anything wrong, which is why I refuse to leave”, Kundra affirmed.

Reflecting on his time in prison, Kundra described it as a deeply challenging period. “I felt immense disappointment. The thought of ending my life crossed my mind. I don’t wish to dwell on that today, but at the time, it was a reality. I was constantly being vilified, and it took a toll on my wife, children, and parents. The media’s persecution was excruciating. I was well aware of everything that was transpiring.”

Kundra credited Shetty for helping him move forward. “We could only speak on the phone once a week initially and relied on text messages. During our first call, she expressed her understanding of my current situation and stressed the need for caution in every decision. That’s when I realized that life must go on. She knows me inside out, and her support has been invaluable”, Kundra shared.

Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2021 in connection with the creation and distribution of adult content. After spending two months behind bars, he was released. The movie ‘UT 69’ is set to release on November 3.
