Jaipur – The Rajasthan Sports Council has sealed the home ground of Rajasthan Royals with just a month left for IPL. The Sawang Man Singh Stadium, managed by the Rajasthan Cricket Association, was closed by the Sports Council citing non-payment of dues. The Rajasthan Cricket Association office and academy operating here have been sealed.
Sports Council Secretary Ram Chaudhary had written to the Cricket Association asking for the handover of the stadium. But the Cricket Association was not ready to hand over the stadium. With this a step was taken. “We have sent them several notices. But there was no answer. Their only demand was to extend the agreement from eight years to 10 years. They were not ready to pay any obligations. We have discussed this with the Rajasthan Cricket Association. They have received around Rs.200 crores. Yet they say they have nothing.”- Ram Chowdhury responded.
The Sports Council said that the Cricket Association received a lot of money during the Rajasthan Premier League and none of it was used for rent. There will be no hurdle to host Rajasthan Royals matches in the Indian Premier League at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. The Sports Council said that the players will be provided with all the facilities and that national and international competitions can be held here.
But RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot responded that the Cricket Association had not been given enough time to respond and that political games were behind the incident. msgstr “The current action is in the name of old tenets.
