Real Madrid in Talks to Extend Contract with Star Midfielder Federico Valverde

Real Madrid is currently in negotiations to secure a contract extension with their midfield maestro, Federico Valverde (25).

Renowned football transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed on the 12th (Korea time) that “Real Madrid and Valverde have reached an agreement to renew their contract.” The new deal, set to last until the summer of 2028, involves a staggering fee of €1 billion (approximately 1.42 trillion won). An official announcement regarding the contract renewal is expected to be made in the near future.

Despite receiving interest from foreign clubs, particularly English Premier League (EPL) sides, Valverde has expressed his allegiance to Real Madrid, quoting, “I did not pay much attention to the love calls from the EPL. I have full confidence in my abilities to play for Real Madrid.”

This unwavering commitment suggests that Valverde, who currently enjoys a vital role in Real Madrid’s squad in Spain, is not inclined to move to an EPL club. As a result, potential suitors vying for Valverde’s signature have been left disappointed.

Born in Uruguay in 1998, Valverde joined Real Madrid’s youth team at a tender age and has steadily made his mark within the club. Since 2017, he has been an integral part of Real Madrid’s first team, amassing an impressive 215 appearances to date.

Valverde’s trophy cabinet is far from modest. Apart from clinching La Liga twice and the UEFA Champions League (UCL) once, he has also secured the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. To add to his accolades, Valverde received the Silver Ball award at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Club World Cup.

One of Valverde’s most potent weapons is his mid-range shot, which possesses a remarkable precision and power. Whether near or far from the goal, he fearlessly attempts a strike, with the ball soaring like a missile into the corner of the net. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois once acknowledged the frustration faced during training due to Valverde’s incredibly powerful shots.

Within the ongoing 2023-24 season, Valverde has established himself as a pivotal figure for Real Madrid. He has played in all nine La Liga matches since the start of the season. Notably, in the 5th round clash against Real Sociedad, Valverde netted the equalizing goal in the first minute of the second half, leading the team to a 2-1 victory. In the 9th round match against Osasuna, he provided two assists in a commanding 4-0 win.

Valverde also has a connection with Korean football. During the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, he faced the Korean national team, with his thunderous mid-range strike hitting the goal post. He also engaged in intense battles with Korean player Lee Kang-in, sparking tension on the field.

Moreover, Valverde captained the Uruguay national team during a friendly match against Korea held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in March of this year. In this game, he contributed one assist, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Uruguay. It was Korea’s second match under coach Jürgen Klinsmann.

[마이데일리 = 이현호 기자] Real Madrid are trying to sign a new contract with Federico Valverde (25).

Reporter Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the European football transfer market, said on the 12th (Korea time), “Real Madrid and Valverde have agreed to renew their contract. “The period of this contract lasts until the summer of 2028,” he said. “The purchase amounts to 1 billion euros (about 1.42 trillion won).” “An official announcement of contract renewal will be made shortly,” the report said.

Valverde received calls from foreign teams until last summer’s transfer window. In particular, English Premier League (EPL) clubs set about recruiting Valverde. The popularity of Valverde, who is considered the best midfielder in the world, has skyrocketed.

However, Valverde said, “I didn’t pay much attention to EPL’s love calls. “This is because I have the ability to play for Real Madrid,” he said.

It is a confident and firm answer. This means that there is no reason for him, who currently plays as a key player at Real Madrid in Spain, to move to an EPL club. The teams that had been pushing to recruit Valverde lowered their heads.

Valverde is a Uruguayan midfielder born in 1998. He joined Real Madrid’s youth team at a young age and gradually built his career, and has been playing for Real Madrid’s first team since 2017. He has already played in 215 games for Real Madrid.

I won most competitions. As well as winning La Liga twice and the UEFA Champions League (UCL) once, he also won the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. He won the Silver Ball at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Club World Cup.

The best weapon is a mid-range shot like a ball cannon. Valverde does not hesitate to try a mid-range shot no matter how far it is from the goal. The ball that leaves Valverde’s feet flies like a clothesline and lands in the corner of the goal. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who plays with Valverde for Real Madrid, once complained that shooting practice was frustrating because Valverde’s shooting was so strong.

Valverde is a key player for Real Madrid in this 2023-24 season. He played in all 9 La Liga matches held after the opening. In the 1st minute of the second half of the 5th round match against Real Sociedad (2-1 win), Valverde scored the equalizer to level the score at 1-1. In the 9th round match against Osasuna (4-0 win), he recorded 2 assists.

There is also a connection with Korean football. They faced each other in the first match between Korea and Uruguay in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. At the end of the second half, Valverde’s heavy mid-range shot hit the Korean goal post and went out. He also roughed up Lee Kang-in and caused a war of nerves.

He took part wearing the Uruguay captain’s arm band in the friendly match between Korea and Uruguay held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in March this year. Valverde recorded 1 assist in this match, and Korea lost 1-2 to Uruguay. This was the second game under coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
