Police arrested a female visitor who danced in the ancient Mayan pyramids, chosen as one of the 7 wonders of the world by UNESCO.

Foreign media such as the New York Post reported on the 22nd (local time) that the Mexican woman Abigail Villalobos (29) was arrested on the 20th while climbing the Kukulcan Pyramid in Chichen Itza, Mexico.

The pyramid, which Villalobos climbed without permission, was chosen as one of the seven wonders of the world by UNESCO in 2007, and Mexico has banned visitors from entering the pyramid since 2008 to preserve it.

Villalobos ignored the rules and danced up the pyramid. He shook his hips and arms vigorously despite the booing of other tourists.

Other tourists there at the time blocked him with abusive language. Soon after, an officer appeared and brought Villalobos down from the pyramid.

When Villalobos came down from the pyramid, angry tourists pulled his hair and continued to curse. Fortunately, it was confirmed that there was no damage to the pyramid. Villalobos, after his arrest, told police he was Spanish, but it was later confirmed he was of Mexican origin.

Villalobos was detained at the police station for 30 minutes and fined about $260 (about 350,000 won) before being released. In this case, it is known that Villalobos ended up with a light fine because the pyramid was not badly damaged.
